Anne Earney
Anne Earney has a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing with an emphasis in fiction from the
University of Missouri-St. Louis ('05) and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Truman
State University (1996). Anne's fiction awards include first place in the Night Train Firebox
Fiction Competition, the Flyway Iowa Sweet Corn Contest, the Lorian Hemingway Short Story
Competition, and a partial scholarship to the Summer Literary Seminars in St. Petersburg,
Russia. Her fiction has been published or is forthcoming in
Night Train, Kaleidowhirl, Interstice,
Big Ugly Review, Flyway and Pangolin Papers, and in two anthologies, Triskaideka, a Cave
Hollow Press anthology of Missouri writers, and
For Here or To Go: Stories About the Service
Industry
. One of her stories has been translated and published in a Turkish journal,
Dushe-yazmi, and another was commissioned for inclusion in an art show in Boston. She
recently served as guest editor for the online flash fiction magazine
flashquake. She writes
features articles on the arts and a column on mixed drinks for
Sauce Magazine, and theater
reviews for
Playback STL. She teaches Beginning Fiction and an Advanced Fiction Workshop
in The Write Stuff!, a Continuing Education Program at the University of Missouri-St. Louis,
and in the spring of 2006, she will be a guest lecturer in fiction workshops at Lindenwood
University in St. Louis.
